We only just came across these Disney movies this summer because they were releasing the 3rd Zombie movie. So we binged the first and second in order to watch the third. My girls loved the movies, as I knew they would. They were wholesome and each one had a story about being yourself, which I always enjoy.
Of course when I was coming up with ideas for these movies, I hadn't watched a single one. So I realized, as we were watching the movies, I could have done some things differently. As the movie says, these zombies do not eat actual human brains as the government created Z-bands that send out electromagnetic pulses to help with their craving of brains. So they eat things that look like brains, like cauliflower and eggs and well I should have done that for our theme. What we ended up doing is having meatloaf using a brain mold, one containing actual ground beef and then another non-meat one for our daughter who was vegetarian at the time. The mold didn't really make the brain impression as we would have liked, but it still tasted yummy! I made some mashed potatoes to go along with it!
So since the movie is about Zombie and Humans, who are represented by two strong colors throughout. The zombies were a bright green while humans had a bright pink. We tried to create a drink that would have both in it. So Tyler made a drink where the pink was on the bottom and green was on top. It consisted of Iced Arizona Green Tea with some Midori on the and Pink Lemonade Vodka on the bottom. Which is obviously also a martini take on an Arnold Palmer. For the girls the drink consisted of just the tea and a Pink Lemonade Vitamin Water.
The dessert was again a mash up of the two different groups, Zombies and Humans, we made two different types of cupcakes. Both cupcakes were vanilla cake with raspberry filling but the Zombie cupcakes were topped with a raspberry buttercream icing for brains, and the Humans version had lime buttercream icing for the Cheerleader pompoms. I think the buttercream wasn't the best I have made, but everyone seemed to enjoy them. The lime was a bigger hit than the raspberry as well, which was surprising.
Hope you enjoyed reading about the themed dinner for Zombies. These are simple things to make and pull off a fun themed dinner!
