Wonder Woman

Updated: Aug 22, 2021

The girls have watched most, if not all of the Marvel movies, so we decided to move to the DC Universe. I think that DC can be a lot more dark and terrifying, but Wonder Woman has much better messages. It also so happens that the new Wonder Woman 1984 movie came out recently on HBO. So we started on Friday with the first movie and then Saturday watched the new one. We really enjoyed the new movie with a little bit of comedy from Kristin Wiig and the strong and confident persona of Gal Gadot. Kyrie especially enjoyed it, who is into the superheroes and throughout the day, she created a sword, shield and a golden lasso!

We started the meal off with an appetizer made out of puff pastry cut into star shapes, to represent the stars on her costume. To these stars, we added a Greek seasoning and feta cheese. This was super easy and tasty! The only thing about these, was the fact we had to go to 3 stores to find the puff pastry. Our supermarket swapped them out with phyllo dough when we made our preorder. I did originally try to make these stars with phyllo dough and failed. So I decided after I failed and I still really wanted to make them, I went back to my supermarket one more time and found them. To me, it completed the theme dinner and Juliet actually likes these and asked for more, so it was worth it!

For the main meal, we made Golden Lasso of Truth Noodles. I found this pasta recipe only the week prior and thought it would be perfect for this theme dinner. And it was so delicious, it was a creamy bacon chicken ziti recipe that I used spaghetti for the lassos. Tyler and I loved it and each had seconds! As I knew the girls wouldn’t like it, after they had to at least try it, we prepared spaghettI and meatballs for them. We also added our Paradise Island Salad with Greek dressing aNd some of the leftover feta we had.

Since we hadn‘t watched the new movie until that evening or read really anything about it, we weren’t sure if Wonder Woman’s invisible jet would come into play. To our surprise it did and our drink was called the Invisible Jet. It consisted of White Grape juice and 151 rum. The girls just had only the juice for their drink. It was actually quite delicious and surprising not as strong as we would have expected it to be with the 151. If we followed the actual drink instructions, it could have been lit on fire, but we didn’t. It was enjoyable just the same!

For Christmas, I received a how to make donuts book and donut pans. After talking with Tyler, we thought it would be fun to make some donuts or this theme. We decided on a simple cake donut and then added maple icing. To finish it off, we made stars out of fondant and used a gold edible glitter spray. The girls had fun helping with the fondant. We called them the Donut of Submission for Wonder Woman‘s gold cuffs. They turned out to be a hit!

Thanks again for stopping by! I hope your enjoyed tonight’s theme dinner. Comment below if you prefer Marvel or DC.
