Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem

We surprisingly haven't done this movie as a theme dinner before the newest movie came out. TMNT is one of Tyler's favorite 90’s movies and we have watched it with the girls' numerous times. Even though this was not a live action, but an animation, it was still delightful. It had a more modern take on the turtles where NYC actually becomes aware of them and they try to become high schoolers while fighting some bad guys!

Even though they were brought into the 21st century with all electronics and social media, the TMNT favorite food was still Pizza! So of course we went with this as our main dish. We even ordered it from Pizza Hut as they were promoting the movie with a Big New Yorker Pizza. Nothing else to say here, other than it was enjoyed by everyone.

Our drink is called the Secret of the Ooze. It was made with OJ, Ginger Ale, pineapple juice, Sprite and some added rum for the parents! We wanted it to look like the lime green oozey color that mutates the turtles into what they were. I also did a quick craft on this and made the infamous colored eye bands that they wear. We each represented one of the TNMT while drinking a refreshing drink!

For the dessert, we had Ninja “Turtle” Brownies! Sometimes with these theme movie nights, we make everything, sometimes we get everything made from a certain location, or sometimes we mix. It just depends on the schedule or the complexity of what to cook/bake. Most of the themes have gotten us to cook or bake things we would never try to make from scratch, so we are grateful for that! We choose to use a box recipe on this one and didn't make them from scratch. Regardless, the girls did follow the instructions on the box and baked them for us! They turned out delicious as a turtle brownie contains caramel mixed into the batter and everyone in this family loves caramel.

I really hope you enjoyed this theme! It is definitely something easy to replicate. And also making the ninja turtle bands for the glasses was fun and turned out cute! Comment below on what you thought of the new movie or like the original ones.
