Ocean’s Eleven

I am not sure how we decided on this theme.

Possibly because there were no new movies that were coming at around this time. Also, because there were some holiday movies coming up like St. Patrick’s Day and Easter that I had ideas for. But regardless, we ended on this movie. And not only did we watch the first one, but we watch Ocean’s 12 and Ocean’s 13 and Ocean 8, the remake with all women cast. The girls, Kyrie especially enjoyed all of them, even though I don’t think she got all the humor.

One thing that kept coming to our mind when thinking of food were the casino buffets, but with Covid, I think most of them closed. Or just eat all the foods that Rusty eats throughout the movie. Neither seemed like good ideas, so we ultimately decided on Sushi and specifically the Las Vegas Roll! We also got the usual (California roll), so dinner would be eaten. For Kyrie we also got a simple veggie roll! Overall, it was simple and easy to go with this theme.

To pair with the sushi, we did a classic Caesar salad! Can you guess why? Everyone ate it and maybe the girls had Ranch dressing instead of the Caesar and maybe no croutons….so really lettuce, but it was still eaten. So, a win!

Our drink was called the Great Heist, as the movie is about stealing from a casino. We followed the drink recipe of Cointreau, bourbon whiskey, Blanca tequila, bitters and Champagne. Not my favorite and I think I ended up just drinking the Champagne! For the girls, we just got iced tea and as it looked similar in color.

We also decided on a simple dessert for this and by simple, I mean really simple. You can either make it from scratch or get a box mix for this. We did our staple Giardelli triple chocolate brownie mix and topped the brownie with vanilla icing. Then we cut the brownies into squares and added the M&Ms to create the dice look. They turned out perfect! In this case it was good that the House Won.

Comment below what you thought of the themed dinner! I hope you enjoyed reading about it.
