Jungle Cruise

My mom has been wanting to watch this movie, so when it dropped on Disney Plus without having to pay for premier, we said we would have them over for the themed dinner! The movie was good and had some good chemistry between The Rock and Emily Blunt. Plus it was another movie that makes me long to go to Disneyland! I also think this theme came together pretty well too. So let’s begin shall we?

Tyler cleverly came up with the main dish for this one. We made snake burgers and no the meat was not snake, but hamburger shaped into a snake. We added some cheese at the last bit in the oven for stripes and it melted off a bit but you can still see them somewhat. We added a tongue and served it like hamburger on a bun. Everyone enjoyed it!

I forgot to mention, we added an appetizer to this meal. We knew we wanted to add bananas somewhere as this was a jungle, so we decided to steam the bananas with honey and cinnamon. Not everyone was a fan, but my mom gobbled them up!

So if you are going to do a theme about the jungle, then you must have jungle juice, right? Well we thought so and it’s pretty easy to make. We raided our fridge for the juice we already had and found pineapple, OJ and cran-blackberry. We mixed that all together, saved some for the girls before we added the alcohol. For the alcohol, we added Malibu rum and orange vodka. Turned out really delicious and I enjoyed the pinkish color. We served it in a pineapple/jungle pitcher for the final touch.

Like the jungle juice being an obvious choice, for this theme, we went with monkey bread for the dessert. I have never made it before, but the girls loved it! I followed the recipe from Pillsbury and cut up the biscuits, coated them with the cinnamon sugar, then added the butter/brown sugar mix and baked it in the oven. Turned out ooey and gooey and very delicious. It was even better the next day!
