It’s just a bunch of Hocus Pocus

Updated: Aug 22, 2021

Ok....... I know I have said previous movies we did a theme night on is one of my favorites, but this one is my favorite, along with my other favorites . I watched this movie so many times growing up. It is SO good! There is comedy, music, witches, talking cats, and great costumes....what isn’t their to like?! The girls have already watched this movie before, but it’s a staple Halloween movie in our house. So here we are making it into a theme night!

For the appetizer, I made a Black Flame Candle Cheesy Bread! This was super easy and a hit by everyone. We took pizza dough and stuffed cheese inside of it (no cheese for the girls as they are weird). Then I took a small knife and cut designs into the dough and with my own mixture of food dye, I went over those carvings to make them stand out. Once it was baked, I added some dark pieces of lettuce for the black flame.

The main meal for this one was our own Life Potion that we made in our cauldron. We made it so that Tyler and I could suck the energy out of the girls instead of the other way around otherwise known as a ‘normal day’. In actuality it was broccoli cheddar soup that I had cooking in the crockpot for most of the day. The crockpot is one of my favorite kitchen appliances where I can add all the ingredients and then forget about it the rest of the day. This day was no different, where I followed a recipe from Pinterest and it was ready in time for the movie. I didn’t get an actual picture of the soup, but you can enjoy our pretend serving of the potion out of the cauldron just like the Sanderson Sisters did.

For our drink we made Another Glorious Morning! It was one of the most refreshing drinks we had. It was fresh blackberries mixed with Sprite and Cran/BlackBerry juice for the girls. For Tyler and me, we swapped out the Sprite with a Raspberry vodka as we couldn’t find a blackberry one. It did turn into this dark purple color, which I thought was great for the theme. When I think Halloween, I think the color purple.

The dessert was the Sanderson Sister Cremation Apple Crumble. Perfect for the end of the movie, when the Sanderson Sisters crumble into dust. This was my first ever apple pie and the inside was perfect. However, the crumble part didn’t crumble and more caramelized. It didn’t taste bad, just I really wanted that crumble. I think the issue was too much butter in the crumble and I had a feeling it wasn’t quite right when I was making it, but I still used it. And of course we had it it with some ice cream.

Thanks again for reading! Comment below and tell me what your favorite pie is in the fall?
