Hotel Transylvania: Transformation

We thought the last Hotel Transylvania was going to be the last one in this franchise, but we were wrong. They came out with a fourth installment and so of course we did a theme with it. It was odd that the movie came out in January instead of October, but we were happy to add some Halloween in the beginning of the new year. The movie was good and Kyrie invited a friend over to watch it with us and join in the theme night, so that was even more fun. What was even more surprising was that Adam Sandler wasn’t even in the movie, but someone’s voice sounded just like his and fooled us. Enough about the movie, let’s get into the themed dinner!

We tried to incorporate the transforming like in the movie where monsters transformed into humans and vice versa. So we came up with the idea of transforming a pizza into a cake! It is easier than it sounds and it is sort of like a deep dish pizza or a lasagna pizza. We cut out multiple circular dough crusts and then layered the toppings and sauce into a round pan and on top of each other. There were four layers all together. From there it was baked in the oven and cooled before eating. Girls got a kick out of it looking like a cake and Jules thought it was the best pizza ever! I think we transformed a pizza into a cake perfectly!

So in the movie, there is a monster called Blobby and he looks like a big green blob. He actually does transform in the movie into a green jello mold, so that is exactly what we did! We actually came up with this idea before seeing the movie and knowing this happens. We just upped the green jello mold and added pineapple chucks and a whipped topping. It was a winner all around! I can honestly say I have never made or had this before, but knew it was very common ‘back then’ as my kids call it. But to my delight, it was very tasty, easy to make and refreshing!

The drink for this theme wasn’t really exciting and we could probably could come up with something better if we did it again. We again tried to transform the drink, but it was kinda lame. Tyler froze the green dye in the cups and in the hopes as it melted it would change the color of the sprite. Alas it did not work and immediately turned the cups green. No transforming whatsoever. The only thing good about it was the color which matched the crystal that transformed in the movie.

Comment below if you enjoyed the recent Hotel Transylvania movie or tell me which one is your favorite. Let me know if you tried any of this themed dinner concoctions.
