Mrs. Doubtfire-Helloooo

These themed dinners are partly about the movies; new movies that just released, movies we have already seen and want to watch again or movies that our part of Tyler and my childhood. The movie this week was Mrs. Doubtfire, a movie from both of our childhoods. After watching this movie with the girls, I remembered that this movie is just as sad as it is funny. Also, it reminded me how much of a comic legend Robin Williams was. The girls agreed on all of it as well, both a funny and sad movie. This movie was also really hard to come up with a dinner for it. We ended up replicating the takeout scene that Mrs.Doubtfire orders to make it seem like she can cook after she ruins the meal she was making.

We actually found this exact same meal replication from another blog (http://www.perpetuallyhungryblog.com), so we basically followed their recipe. It consisted of a pasta with a cream sauce and shrimp. I really enjoyed the pasta, it is something we will definitely try again. I don’t think the girls were a fan though. However, Juliet loved the shrimp and it has now become a new staple for her. For the side we made the roasted carrots just like in the movie. These were a hit!

Our drink was based after the scene when they are at the Country Club and Mrs.Doubtfire overhears Stu talk about his ex-wife and his kids and Daniel/Mrs.Doubtfire starts to get jealous. So she picks up a piece of fruit and throws it, hitting Stu in the back of the head. He then proceeds to blame it on an angry waiter and calls it a run by fruiting. And that is our drink-a Run By Fruiting. It consisted of Pina Colada mix, lime juice, Triple Sec, Mango Rum and bicardi lemon. For the girls, we used the pina colada mix, lime juice and added some pineapple juice instead. We added some fruit garnish to fruiten the drinks up. This drink was a favorite one of Kyrie, she kept wanting more.

Now this dessert was only needed for the icing. If you remember the scene where Daniel gets visited by the social service lady and introduces his sister Mrs.Doubtfire. As Robin Williams is playing both characters he quickly disgusies himself with the icing from the cake and says it’s a mask

to pull off being Mrs. Doubtfire. I wanted to play a prank on the girls and make it seem like Tyler did the same thing with the cake. In actuality, Tyler used some extra cool whip that we had and did not stick his face in it. Anyways, it went over so well that Juliet cried so hard as she thought he ruined the cake. I will not embarrass her and post any of the pictures- I’ll save that for her future groom. The cake was confetti cake and homemade whipped icing, which was delicious by the way, once finally eaten and not on Tyler’s face 😉.

Thanks again for stopping by and reading! Comment below what is your favorite Robin Williams movie is?
