Ghostbusters

If you couldn't tell Tyler and I grew up in the eighties and love to introduce our girls to our favorite movies and shows. One of Tyler's favorite movies is Ghostbusters. When Tyler and I took a trip to NYC a few years ago, we did sightseeing of all the famous scenes from the movie….best day ever for him! When we heard they were doing another Ghostbuster movie, we were a little skeptical how this was going to turn out. Well we loved it, it was a great way to pay homage to the original Ghostbusters.

We didn’t know what the movie was going to be about other than busting ghosts, so we kind of went off a little from the previous movies. After toying with some ideas, we landed on Proton Protein Packs. I did a little arts and crafts that day and made our own ghost traps out of card-stock and tin foil. I also lined the inside with tin foil since these were going to be our food trays. For the actual dinner, we got all different types of protein- turkey, ham, hummus, and peanut butter. As well as some veggies, cheese and Pita bread to go along with the protein. All of this food was arranged in each ghost trap and presented to the girls! They loved this, all of it- the ghost trap and the protein nibbles! Again super easy with making the ghost traps and putting them together.

In all the Ghostbusters movies (and cartoons), Slimer makes an appearance. There was also a Hi-C drink in the 80’s that came out specifically for the Ghostbuster movies that was called an Ecto Cooler. So to pay homage to Slimer and the best drink ever, we made our own Ecto Cooler. We used a mixture of blue and green Gatorade with some sprite and OJ and created that bright green color. We added St.Germain, Orange vodka and Lemon Vodka to the adult drinks! Very refreshing and I might have had 2!

We had many ideas for the dessert for this theme, but we decided to incorporate the Stay Puft (or whatever brand) Marshmallows! We prepared graham cracker crusts in cupcake liners. Then added the chocolate piece and cut up 2 marshmallows to top it off. When we were ready to eat dessert, they were placed in the oven to toast the marshmallow like a s’more. It was one of the girls favorite desserts so far! It all was super gooey and toasted since we ate them immediately after they came out of the oven!!

Thanks for joining along on this theme. Let me know if you try any of these theme ideas. Comment below your love of Ghostbusters and which rendition you like.
