Cruella

So we waited for this movie to come out on Disney plus instead of watching it with premier access. Mostly because we just paid the extra for Black Widow. I was also very nervous about showing this movie to Kyrie as I knew nothing about the new version and their portrayal, but I am sure it features dogs. And since Kyrie is an animal lover and is concerned about any stray animal that she sees and watching any movie with animals is terrible for us as she cries throughout being too worried about the animal. It is a good trait, but not fun for movie watching. So even though this movie had no harming of dogs, Kyrie was suspicious the whole time and wouldn’t stop asking. Besides the constant reassurance of no harming of real animals, the movie was really really good. I enjoyed both Emma’s and their great acting! Emma Thompson’s character was a little too evil at times, but it was still a good fresh take on Cruella!

I also really enjoyed this theme and it was fun and overall easy to put together. We wanted to stick to the black, white and red color which is still apparent throughout this movie as well as the cartoon. We researched and found a black dyed (squid ink) pasta noodle that we purchased from Amazon and had it delivered in time. So we did those noodles and made just a simple red pasta sauce and had meatballs. With the parmesan cheese that was added, all colors were represented. The girls even enjoyed the new noodles, so a win.

I wanted a red drink and Tyler suggested a daiquiri since we haven’t done that no yet, so I found a good cocktail that included raspberries in their daiquiri. We called ours The Perfect Accessory. We froze the raspberries ahead of time, chambord, rum and squeezed in fresh lime juice from our very own lime tree. It turned out a little tart and seedy from the raspberries, but the color was exactly what I wanted. For the girls we wanted to do a smoothie of raspberries and strawberries but with the addition of the milk it lightened their drink to a pinkish color. So it wasn’t as bright red as our drink, but it was delicious tasting!

We continued with that black and white theme in the dessert. I immediately thought of Oreos and so I found a recipe on Pinterest for a no bake Oreo pie. Super easy too make and I think one of the favorite desserts for the girls, as they licked their plates clean. It had Oreos for the crust, in the filling and on top- so much Oreo!

This themed turned out to be a favorite of mine because it was a good movie, meal, drink and dessert so a clean sweep for the win. Thanks for stopping by. Comment below what you thought of the new Cruella movie!
