Buzz Lightyear

We are a fan of the Toy Story franchise and looked forward to this movie to be released on Disney over the summer. Buzz Lightyear's mission is to defeat the Evil Zurg while trying to figure out how to get home. It was overall a cute movie and we especially loved the robot cat, Sox!

When doing this theme dinner, Kyrie was back in her vegetarian phase, so we had to somehow think of a main meal that could be for all of us. So after some major brainstorming we used Buzz's infamous tagline and made "To Infinity and Beyond Meat Kabobs!" We made both tofu and chicken kabobs along with peppers and onions. Plus this theme was done during the summer, so it's always fun to be outside and grilling! Kyrie didn't think the tofu was that bad, plus it had BBQ sauce on it to give it some flavor. We also used our star cookie cutters once again and made star shaped watermelon pieces.

Since this movie takes place in space, what better than to do a galaxy inspired drink. We have seen many renditions for this type, but we tried our own. We used blue curaçao, grenadine, black cherry sparkling water and passion fruit vodka! The color did come out with a mixture of blue/ purple that we wanted. For the girls, we just got a sparkling grape juice and it gave us the purple color only. The girls enjoyed it.

We decided to try something that we haven't done yet. Cake Pops! They seem simple enough, but I will say they aren't as easy as it looks! Kyrie made most of it herself. I made the cake, but she crumbled up the cake into the balls and stuck the sticks in them. She also melted the colored chocolate and dipped/mixed it to get the marbled galaxy color. I didn't instruct her well on the best way to have them harden and they got a little funky! The colors turned out cool, they just didn't get into a smooth covered cake pop that you see out there. Oh well, not bad for a first try!

Thank you for stopping by and reading along! I enjoyed this theme as well (let's be real, there hasn't been many that I haven't enjoyed), but love when it all comes together and makes sense when you look at the whole picture! Comment below what you thought?
