Avatar The Way of Water

I always thought the first Avatar movie was just an average movie. I wasn’t overly impressed with the movie, so when the news started coming out about a sequel, I had a meh attitude for it. Even though the movie is not my cup a tea, I thought we can still do a themed dinner on it. The girls hadn’t seen the first one either at the time of doing the theme, so we watched that one the night before. If you asked Kyrie if she likes The Way of Water, she would emphatically say no. She cried for a good bit when there were some whale-like animal casualties during the movie. The overall visual effects are still cool, but it’s not a movie I would watch over and over. Enough about the movie, let’s get to the themed dinner!

I have heard Animal Kingdom has created an impressive Avatar Pandora world. It got me thinking about what food and/or drink they have at the park that could give me inspiration, as I was stumped on what to do for this theme. So I did some research and found some recipes online to mimic at home for our theme. For the drink they have one called Night Blossom. The recipe I found was using an ice cream maker to make the ingredients into a more slushy like drink, as well as, adding gel food coloring to make it a more vibrant color. Since I didn’t have an ice cream maker, I decided on an simplier version. I found Rainbow Sherbert and took out Boba beads from another drink we had and combined them together and got my Night Blossom drink. It turned into a refreshing drink and perfect for the summer! The girls loved it as they like sherbert and Boba Beads! This drink was also our dessert since it contained the sherbet.

I also found a copycat recipe for a dinner they have at Animal Kingdom. They have these Pandora Pods that seemed yummy, however, they steam the “pods”. I didn’t think this would be eaten by my girls, so I made a minor adjustment on the recipe and I baked them instead of steaming them. These Pandora pods consisted of ground beef, onions and cheese stuffed into a biscuit. The girls enjoyed them. Overall, I call it a success!

This themed dinner was short and sweet, only because we combined our drink and dessert. Everything was enjoyed by all, except maybe, parts of the movie. Comment below if you have been to Animal Kingdom and tried the actual Night Blossom drink or Pandora Pods.
