Wish

Wish was the recent Walt Disney movie that came out during the fall of 2023, but we didn't do a theme on it until it was released on streaming on Disney Plus. We still don't see many movies in the theatre, since we have been doing these themed dinners for the last four years. I actually secretly don't mind watching them at home as it saves some money by doing these themes. After the price of tickets and then the girls having to get popcorn and drinks while at the theatre, doing a dinner, drink and dessert is way cheaper when it comes down to it.

The movie Wish is about....you guessed it- wishes and specifically a king named Magnifico who grants the peoples wishes. Then a young girl named Asha, who is interviewing to be his apprentice, asks the king to grant a wish of her grandfather. However, he declines to grant this wish and explains the wish as a threat to his power. She then proceeds to wish upon a star, who comes down to help Asha and bring down the king. Overall, a good movie with underlying theme to keep dreaming. Plus there were many references to other Disney movies throughout, so the girls enjoyed spotting them.

The Kingdom of Rosas is set on an island in the Mediterranean Sea so we went with some Mediterranean food for our main meal. We had decided on a local Greek place that we frequent for our mail meal, but didn't realize that they were closed the day we did our theme. So we searched for another Greek place that was open that day and thankfully we found a place open. We had some yummy Greek chicken kabobs with some rice, as well as hummus and pita bread. Theses are all food items we know the girls enjoy, so it went over well!

Asha's dress was all about the color purple, so we tried to make a drink based on that color. We used gin, St. GermIne's elderflower, limoncello La Croix, blueberries and cherries and it ultimately turned into a light purple color. Even though it was not the dark purple color we wanted, it was delicious! The girls turned out the same color, just without the alcohol.

Our dessert was all about one of the main characters in the movie, the Star. So, we had a Star shaped cake. We baked a simple yellow cake and Kyrie cut it into the shape for the star. I was really wanting some whipped frosting, so we made that instead of a buttercream. Turned out delicious and made the Star more star like than buttercream would have done.

Hope you enjoyed the latest Disney movie. As mentioned, the girls had fun finding all the Disney Easter eggs throughout the movie. And of course, we enjoyed the Mediterranean food we had to go along with it.
